Ecphoneme
Ecphoneme is a browser add-on that allows you to search directly on specific website with the help of few extra characters directly from the address bar.
Why?
This add-on was inspired by DuckDuckGo !bangs commands.
Long long ago, I've switched from Google to DuckDuckGo for my search engine. The reason was I didn't like how much information Google kept for me based on my searches. After a while I found myself left out with not quite good search results, than the ones that I was used to. I loved the !bangs though. I kept using DuckDuckGo, but I kept looking for another search engine. Later I found out Startpage and tested it. It was Google without Google. My default search engine still was DuckDuckGo, but I used it only because of the !bang commands. All most all of my searches included !sp (Startpage).
Ecphoneme is an attempt to have the advantage of the !bang commands without using DuckDuckGo as a search engine. After all using an intermediary to search 3rd parties websites is kind of annoying even doing it transparently.

Ecphoneme is an old fashion word (according to Wiktionary) that means exclamation mark, a bang.
Supported browsers
Currently only Mozilla Firefox (21 and above).
Support for older versions and other browsers is available on request if enough people want it.
